Gaining Energy

Gaining energy is something we all strive for at times. In our non-stop society sometimes we are just plain tiered. However, it is our actions that determine our energy level. We feel tiered because of our low activity level, lack of sleep or mal nutrition.

As an athlete, teacher and business owner I have to stay on top of my game to make sure I’m gaining energy throughout the day to keep me going.

Below I explain the top three things I do to make sure I stay energized.

First, I exercise on a daily basis. I’ve never left the gym with less energy than I walked in with and I have never thought “Gee I wish I didn’t exercise today”. I always come out with a positive outlook. My level of activity does change from day to day because I create a balance of strength training, cardio and rest days. A rest day doesn’t mean I sit on the couch and eat all day it just means I don’t go to the gym. I still make sure I get out moving somehow. Whether it is a walk, light run, hike or bike ride. It’s important to get moving everyday. The longer you sit and do nothing the more stagnate your blood flow is and the lazier you will feel. Get up and get that blood flowing to make sure you are gaining the energy your body needs.

Second, I eat a healthy balanced diet. I prepare my own meals and make sure there is a balance of healthy carbs, protein and healthy fats. Gaining the energy our bodies need comes directly from the food we consume. If we don’t feed our body right it will react negatively and you won’t be gaining the energy you need. With the introduction of products like Complete Truth Protein gone are the days of excuses such as “I don’t have time to eat” or “I don’t have time to cook”. Making a healthy meal can be quick and easy.

Watch me in the video below as I demonstrate how to make a healthy meal in under 30 seconds. That’s a whole lot quicker than the drive thru and offers a ton of health benefits including gaining energy.

Third, I get enough sleep. It’s taken me awhile to figure out how much sleep I need but recently I figured out I’m an eight hours a day girl. Everyone is different so I’m not suggesting that everyone needs eight hours of sleep that’s something you need to figure out on your own. When you wake up you should feel energized, rested and ready to take on the day. You deserve more than feeling tiered and groggy finding yourself reaching for that cup of coffee. Sleeping is your body’s time to replenish the energy lots throughout the day therefore it is a crucial part of gaining energy for the next day. “I didn’t get enough sleep” is not an excuse anymore. It’s your responsibility to prioritize your day so you can get to bed on time to make sure your body has enough time to regain the energy it needs.
